The waterwheel at the Wheelhouse, Merton Abbey MillsThe Wheelhouse

Our shop and studio is at the Wheelhouse at Merton Abbey Mills, South London. The Wheelhouse is open from 10am-4pm every Saturday and Sunday.

The Wheelhouse is one of the original buildings which made up the old Liberties Printworks. Turned by the River Wandle, the waterwheel was used to drive the rinsing spools and dates back to 1885.

It is one of the finest surviving waterwheels in London and since the restoration of the grade II listed building in 1989, turns again each weekend to drive the lathe and potter's wheel in the Wheelhouse.
